Hot Water in Alexandra Hills
Alexandra Hills sits in the middle of the Redlands, with Capalaba to the west, Ormiston and Cleveland towards the bay and Thornlands to the south. Most homes are established family houses on suburban blocks, owner occupied and rented alike, and a fair share still run gas or electric storage hot water systems that have been in place for many years.
A rental without hot water
In October, tenants at an Alexandra Hills rental had gone several days without hot water because the pilot on their gas storage unit would not stay lit. The property manager asked us to look that afternoon. The burner was on its way out, so we recommended a new system rather than a repair. Once the owner approved the quote, we removed the old unit the next morning, installed a new 135 litre LPG storage system and completed the gas compliance paperwork.
Repair or replace?
A pilot that will not stay lit can be a simple fix on a younger unit, while on an older one it is often the first sign of a burner or valve failing. We tell you honestly which one you have. Like for like is usually the simplest swap, because the gas line, water connections and space are already there. If you are weighing up electric or heat pump instead, ask at the quote and we will talk through running costs and installation work.
Water supply and hidden leaks
Water and sewerage here are supplied by Redland City Council, which looks after the main and the meter. Pipes on the property side of the meter are the owner's responsibility. If your bill jumps without explanation, turn off every tap, note the meter reading and check it an hour later. If it has moved, there is likely a leak on your side, and our leak detection service can track it down. If the fault is on the council side, we will tell you.
Every quote is free and the price is fixed before work starts, and our workmanship carries a lifetime guarantee. Joseph handles the gas connection and compliance paperwork himself, so there is no second trade to book.
