Camira 4300
Camira sits on the eastern side of Ipswich, between Springfield Lakes and Redbank Plains, and much of it is an established area of family homes on suburban blocks with lawns and gardens. That shapes the plumbing work we do there. A good share of it happens outdoors and underground, in the stormwater and water lines that run under yards, driveways and paths.
One Camira job this year is a good example. The owner had gutters spilling over in heavy rain. Instead of guessing, we put a camera through the stormwater lines, traced and marked them, and found the pipes themselves were in good shape. The problem was where they ended: a gravel pit that filled up and could not drain fast enough, so water backed up the downpipes and out over the gutters. The fix was a new junction with a surface grate, letting the overflow escape across the yard instead. Gravel pits are rarely a long-term answer, so if your downpipes bubble or overflow in a storm, it is worth checking where the water actually goes.
Water and drain pipes under slabs and paths are easy to hit when other work is being done. In Camira we repaired a water line that had been drilled through under concrete, cutting out just enough of the slab to reach it and testing the repair before the concrete went back. If water appears where it should not after building or pest work, turn it off at the meter and call.
Some Camira homes still have gas cooking or gas hot water, and some run from gas bottles rather than a mains connection. When an owner switches a gas oven to electric, the old gas point needs to be capped properly and tested. Joseph is a licensed gas fitter and issues a gas compliance certificate for that work.
